1911 Singer 66-1 Buttonhole Trial

I recently refurbished a treadle-driven 1911 Singer Model 66 sewing machine. This is a test run with my buttonhole attachment. Unlike modern machines that move the needle back and forth, this foot moves the fabric while the needle stays in one position. Straight-stitch machine (as they are now called) are far more rigid and durable than modern zigzag machines, and with the treadle for power can handle much heavier jobs.
