This is the 1947 Model 10E Shopsmith our Great Uncle used for decades. Bushings in the variable speed gearing (called a Reeves Drive) were worn nearly a quarter of an inch out. With new bushings pressed it, it's a lot happier. Now that the drive and motor have been tested, it's time to dig into the restoration proper. In the next few days it's all coming apart for cleaning, bearing inspections, etc. But it's looking good...all the hard-to-replace stuff is present and working.
