Antique low tech Diesel oil controller on hightech Chinese Diesel heater with Oxygen sensor

While searching for the best solution for a fuel delivery system that does not make any noise, I found this old low tech oil controller from an old space heater. These controllers are also used for heaters in boats and yachts. Have a look, if that controller works on my Diesel heater from China, which I control via Arduino and Oxygen sensor.

The Diesel heaters work by forced air and fuel that flows into the burner. Therefore I had the idea of building a stove type burner from an old PC fan and a burner of an inexpensive Diesel heater from China. Besides that I also tested a new fuel delivery system.

Stop the Diesel Heater Pump clicking by Arduino PWM?

This is a quick update on the Mercedes 814 Camping truck (Fire truck) after the winter. I have decided to remove the BMS system from the LiFePO4 Lithium battery. Time will show if I regret this decision.

The next step will be to add a Lamda/Oxygen sensor to the Arduino controller to have the fan controlled so it always delivers the correct amount of air for the cumbustion. If I get this working, the heater will also be independent of any elevation changes and can also run in extreme elevations.

While modifying the Chinese Diesel Heater and transferring control over to the Arduino, I started the issue with annoying motor noise from the fan motor. A viewer gave me an idea that I tried out in this video.

After a lot of problem solving and programming on the Arduino, I finally managed to get the Chinese Diesel Heater Running, without pump, just by gravity and a 2-way-valve. Nevertheless, the idea is to control the flame of the burner by lamda sensor to keep it running in optimum burning condition all the time. Stay tuned.

I'm planing to equip our fire-truck camping truck and it's LiFePO4 batteries with a self made battery computer. The first idea was of course to use a shunt. But then I found this little ACS758 chip and I wanted to find out, if I can use easily it for measuring the 150A that will be drawn by our inductive cooking stove. Since the clicking piston pump is annoying to me, I'm testing, if a Diesel Heater like Eberspächer, Webasto or Planar can also run without a pump, just on gravity. See yourself, if it works.

I'm building a smart BMS with ESP8266 chips and ESPEasy. Since comprehensive tutorials for ESPEasy and networking are rare, I struggled with the setup. But I learned and found a solution. I made this video to make things easier for someone else trying to do something similar.
Collection of the BMS-data is done via InfluxDB and graphing of the LiFePO4 health data is done with Grafana.

The clicking of the Diesel Heater pump is annoying. To prevent that, I exchanged the original piston pump with a non clicking peristaltic pump. Unfortunately it is also necessary to replace the controller and write my own control program for the Arduino.
See if my tuned Chinese Diesel heater will start and run, so I can heat my Mercedes 814 fire truck camper in the future.

Attempting to run a Chinese Diesel Heater on a peristaltic pump controlled by an Arduino Uno

My goal is to replace the loud clicking fuel pump that comes with pretty much every Diesel heater, be it from Eberspächer, Webasto, Autotherm (Planar) or from China. Autotherm offers a improved piston pump for a hefty price tag. But also that pump remains a clicking pump.
My idea is to use an inexpensive peristaltic pump that is easy to service and cheap to replace, if needed.

Unfortunately I ran into a problem with the temperature control element of the Diesel Heater, after my first test with the peristaltic pump. The Diesel heater did run with it for a few minutes, but gave an error after I attempted to start it for a second test. Apparently I had overheated the thermo-fuse since the air was not guided over the cooling ribs of the heater, without the housing, during my test. Possibly I may have overheated the little Chinese Diesel heater by pumping too much fuel into the burning chamber with the peristaltic pump, running at the same pumping frequency as the piston pump.
To be able to continue with my project, before the new thermo-fuse arrives from China, I started testing the feasibility of replacing the original Diesel Heater controller with an Arduino mini computer.
In this video I will show the first steps with the Arduino on the Chinese Diesel Heater.
